This week's grocery haul is Sprouts! Sprouts don’t exist in New York City, and I can’t stop shopping there. Many people say it’s expensive, but depending on HOW you shop there.
Their produce prices are sometimes better than “bargain” supermarkets. I buy all of my produce from there. I purchased a bunch of produce from Trader Joe's in my last grocery haul, and it got bad quickly. I know this about Trader Joe's, but I still insisted on buying produce there to avoid making a second stop.
I have a question: are you more of a “one-stop-shop” kind of person, or do you prefer to visit multiple grocery stores on one trip for good deals? David and I like going to one store and shopping for everything there.
Trader Joe's has some reasonably priced products, which keeps me from giving up on them. I feel the same way about Whole Foods and Grocery Outlet. But Sprouts is my number one for all things.
Sprouts have bulk bins that I love, especially for ingredients used for test recipes. If I can’t find bulk products at Costco, I’ll get them at Sprouts. If I need a small amount of one ingredient for a recipe, I’ll go to Sprouts and grab the exact amount I need from the bulk bin.
For this grocery haul, we had to restock our produce completely. All we had left in the fridge were scallions and sad cilantro. Most of the products we purchased are ingredients for a challenge I am doing in April (more info coming soon), and we got quite a few new (to us) beverages.
